Rush Oak Park Hospital’s name adorns the new Forest Park Fitness Court, an outdoor gym located at 7501 Harrison Street, just a few blocks southwest of the hospital. Along with Park District of Forest Park officials, Bruce Elegant, president and CEO of the hospital, helped open the new court with a ribbon-cutting event on Saturday morning.
“We’re very excited to partner with the Park District of Forest Park on this project. Not only is this new, innovative outdoor fitness court a benefit to the community, but it goes along with our Choose Health program for employees at our hospital that involves getting out and getting moving,” said Elegant. “Being a part of this project also goes along with the hospital’s many community contributions—from supplying food for the Oak Park Food Pantry to providing free health screenings at community health fairs. We’re proud to sponsor this outdoor fitness court that will no doubt help people continue on a path to good health.”
The court offers a seven-movement, seven-minute functional training system that provides a full-body workout to people of all ability levels. With seven functional fitness zones, the fitness court can be used in several ways and participants can download a free app to track their workout progress.
“The addition of the fitness court to the Park District of Forest Park demonstrates our commitment to health and fitness in our community,” said Rachel Entler, recreation supervisor for the Park District. “Free fitness access is essential to promoting healthy habits. I am excited to be able to make this available to the residents of Forest Park and the surrounding communities.”
