Henry Govekar, MD, Appointed Division Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery

Henry R. Govekar, MD, has been named chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Rush.

A graduate of Rush Medical College, Govekar completed his general surgery residency at the University of Colorado and completed his colorectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Florida. After working in private practice, Govekar joined Rush in 2019.

‌Govekar is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at Rush Medical College. He is dual board-certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Earlier this year, he was appointed National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer chair and also serves as co-associate program director of our Rush General Surgery Residency Program, a position he has held since 2021.

Govekar will continue his work as a colon and rectal surgeon at Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Brook.
