Rush Excellence in Women's Behavioral and Mental Health Care
- Unique expertise: Rush is one of only a few Illinois health systems with a team specialized in treating sexual and reproductive stress and trauma. When you have therapy sessions with one of our psychologists, they'll use approaches specifically developed for people in your situation.
- Treatment to fit your needs: Depending on what you need, we can diagnose your condition, offer therapy or help find medications that work for you. Many patients do best with a combination of therapy and medications, but some prefer one or the other.
- Commitment to LGBTQ+ health care: We welcome cis women, trans women and nonbinary people. Both our team and Rush as a whole are committed to treating all patients equally, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Last year, Rush received the highest possible rating in the Human Rights Campaign's assessment of our care for LGBTQ+ patients.
- An understanding, judgment-free environment: Women are often made to feel that difficulties with sex, infertility, pregnancy are their fault. New mothers often face pressure and judgment related to their parenting decisions. We think these pressures are unfair, and we know the difficulties aren't your fault. We work to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where we can find what's really causing the problem. Then we'll do our best to solve it.
- Coordinated care: Our team works closely with other experts at Rush who can treat any medical conditions related to your stress or trauma. When needed, we’ll refer you to providers we know and trust. (These providers may include OB-GYNs, urogynecologists, pelvic floor physical therapists, physiatrists or reproductive endocrinologists.) By working together, we address mental, physical and emotional issues at the same time.
