Part of the Warrior Care Network
The Wounded Warrior Project has chosen only four U.S. hospitals — including Rush University Medical Center— to be part of its Warrior Care Network.
The Rush Approach to Veterans' Care
At Rush, you and your family can begin healing from the invisible wounds of war and military life. Our Road Home Program helps veterans and their families cope with post-traumatic stress disorder, military sexual trauma and more. Road Home's services include the following:
- Intensive outpatient care: One- and two-week intensive outpatient programs on Rush's main Chicago campus can help jump-start your healing. You'll spend each day working with therapists, participating in healing activities and talking with other veterans. We'll help you take care of transportation, lodging, childcare and getting time off of work.
- Regular outpatient care for veterans: We offer individual and group psychotherapy, medication management and wellness services to help with PTSD, depression, anxiety and more.
- Care for veterans' families and friends: If you're part of a veteran's family, you can get care at Road Home. It doesn't matter whether your veteran is also a patient — you're welcome either way. For us, family means anyone a veteran considers part of their family. Spouses, partners, children, parents, siblings and caregivers can all receive support and counseling.
No matter what you're dealing with, you're not in this alone.
Rush Excellence in Veterans' Care
- National leaders in veterans' mental health: The Road Home Program, also called the National Center of Excellence for Veterans and Their Families at Rush, is unique. It makes Rush one of the few American academic health systems to offer mental health services designed for veterans.
- Proven results: At the end of our intensive outpatient care program, 76% of participants have significantly fewer PTSD symptoms. For 50% of patients, symptoms decrease so much that their condition no longer meets the official definition of PTSD.
- Care for veterans' families and friends: We know that the invisible wounds of war affect veterans' loved ones, too. So we offer mental health care for spouses, partners, children, parents, siblings and caregivers. Anyone a veteran considers family is welcome, whether or not their vet is ready to get help.
- No out-of-pocket costs for veterans or their families: None of our services have any out-of-pocket cost. We may bill your insurance for some services, but you'll never get a bill — regardless of whether you have insurance or the ability to pay.
