The Rush Approach to Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation at Rush has one goal: returning you, as much as possible, to your life before lung disease.
Your customized rehab program combines education with exercise, empowering you to understand your condition and improve your fitness. After 10 to 12 weeks, you'll feel better and stronger and can be more active.
Rush Excellence in Pulmonary Rehabilitation
- An expert team, focused on you: Your team includes a pulmonologist, respiratory therapist, exercise physiologist and rehabilitation nurse who create your personalized rehab plan and help you complete it.
- The precise plan you need: Your plan will include education about your condition and the best ways to manage your symptoms; special breathing techniques to help you increase your oxygen levels and reduce anxiety; nutritional counseling; and supervised exercise that helps your heart and lungs get stronger so you can be more active.
- Extra support from peers: You'll be part of a small group working on pulmonary fitness together — so you'll gain exercise buddies and a built-in support system of folks who share your experience.
- Improve your quality of life with rehab close to home: You can choose to complete your rehabilitation in Oak Park or Aurora/Fox Valley.
