The Illinois Health and Hospital Association will hold its second annual Health Equity Action Day on Friday, May 13. The virtual event will spotlight the value of health equity and feature discussions about successful health equity initiatives at Illinois hospitals.
David Ansell, MD, MPH, senior vice president for community health equity at Rush University Medical Center, will co-host the event with Brenda Battle, RN, MBA, senior vice president, community health transformation, and chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at UChicago Medicine.
New York Times best-selling author Heather McGhee will give the event’s keynote address, “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.” The event also will include panel discussions on health disparities, a health equity policy briefing and an update on the IHA’s Racial Health Equity in Healthcare Progress Report.
“IHA is excited to host Health Equity Action Day. We look forward to sharing how Illinois hospitals are working hard to address long-standing racial health inequities,” said IHA President and CEO A.J. Wilhelmi.
