Rush University Medical Center has again been named one of the nation’s top hospitals, securing a spot on U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best Hospitals Honor Roll for the fifth straight year.
Eleven Rush specialties ranked among the top 50 in the U.S., including six in the top 20. Rush University Medical Center tied for No. 1 as the top hospital in Illinois.
“While being named to the U.S. News Honor Roll represents incredible dedication to the quality and safety measures that all hospitals should strive to achieve, it is our Rush staff who make this happen by doing the best for our patients,” said Dr. Omar Lateef, president and CEO.
“We don’t do it for rankings. We do it because it is the best way to serve our patients.”
U.S. News ranks hospitals based on a variety of factors, including clinical outcomes, surveys of specialists, nurse staffing levels, technology and feedback from patients.
Top 1% in the U.S.
The Best Hospitals Honor Roll recognizes hospitals that provide exceptional treatment across multiple specialties.
The Rush specialties ranked among the top 50 for 2024-2025 include Cancer, Cardiology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, ENT, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery and Urology.
Of the nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals that U.S. News evaluated, Rush is among only 11% that earned a numerical ranking in a state or a medical specialty. Overall, Rush is in the top 1% of hospitals in the country based on its Honor Roll rating.
“In addition to being a part of the Honor Roll for the fifth consecutive year, we are thrilled to see so many of our specialties perform so well,” said Dr. Paul Casey, senior vice president and chief medical officer. “It is a testament to the remarkable skills of our clinicians and entire Rush staff who deliver the best results for our patients day in and day out.”
Rush’s three hospitals — including Rush Copley Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital — also earned “high performing” designations for a total of 26 adult specialties, conditions and procedures.
