We understand that patients value comfort and convenience. We had them in mind while planning the Joan and Paul Rubschlager Building — and people are noticing.
The new outpatient building on RUSH's near West Side campus recently earned five different awards for its personalized design for patients.
The first honor was the 2023 User-Centered Distinction Award from the Health Facilities Symposium & Expo — a patient-centered award that recognizes a healthcare design project or facility that best reflects and balances the requirements of patients, their family and providers.
“This award is meaningful because this is where we are hoping to make a difference — in the lives of our patients and staff,” says Patty Nedved, RN, MSN, associate vice president, clinical transformation officer. “The design of the building is fostering a better patient experience.”
Another honor comes from the American Society of Interior Designers, which awarded the Rubschlager Building with the 2023 Design Excellence Award — First Place in Health Care. This award highlights the building’s usage of design, color and artwork that promotes healing.
“These awards are fantastic recognition for the architect, design team and the entire project team,” Nedved says. “It’s an honor to be recognized for a design that is forward-thinking and provides a lot of benefit for patients.”
