The Los Angeles Rams may have won the Super Bowl this year, but they were not the only winners. Thanks to a Super Bowl-themed fundraiser hosted by the local Lions Club, Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center won, too.
The Aurora Carillon Lions Club recently presented a check for $200 to Waterford Place. They raised the money through a Super Bowl squares fundraiser.
“We had all kinds of winners,” says Vanessa Liveris, the group’s incoming president.
Now in its second year, the service club’s goals are to serve the community and sponsor a service activity each month. Their first donation to Waterford Place last year included a monetary donation as well as items from the center’s wish list. Members hope to continue to provide support for Waterford Place activities and help raise awareness of the resource center and its many programs.
“We had a positive experience here last year,” Liveris says. “It’s a great thing to contribute to a worthy cause.”
Waterford Place provides programs and services free of charge to people affected by cancer.
