Clinical Trial Protocol Description:

Study to evaluate the impact of treating complex blockages in the coronary arteries (arteries that supply blood to the heart) in participants having percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with the imaging guidance of Intravascular Ultrasound (called IVUS, which is an imaging method that uses ultrasonic waves to see your vessel wall from the inside of the artery).

Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria:

In order to participate you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Are at least 18 years of age.
  • Have evidence of myocardial ischemia (i.e. stable angina, silent ischemia, unstable angina, or acute myocardial infarction) suitable for elective PCI
  • Has been determined, by your doctor, that you will undergo stent implantation during a clinically indicated PCI.

You will be excluded from the study if any of the following criteria apply to you: 

  • Have congestive heart failure.
  • Have an inability to take dual anti-platelet therapy.
  • Have a planned cardiac or non-cardiac surgery that would result in premature interruption in antiplatelet therapy.
  • Have received any solid organ transplants or is on a waiting list for any solid organ transplant.
