During the month of December each time you attend a land or aqua group exercise class at the Healthplex you will be entered into a drawing. The more classes you attend, the more chances to win fun prizes! Winners will be chosen on January 2.
This one-day workshop is designed for women and teens to teach common sense approaches to personal safety. Self-defense means both the physical act of defending yourself from attack and the precautions you can take to prevent trouble before it gets physical. The class will have a short lecture on the fundamental principles of avoid, fight, escape, followed by practicing escapes from grabs and striking targets.
Instructor, Dave Carr, has over 40 years of experience instructing self-defense and a wide variety of martial arts. He is an 8th degree black belt in Seisanryu Karate.
This method of leveraged bodyweight exercise leads you to safely perform exercises that build strength, flexibility, balance and mobility with an emphasis on the core. The level of intensity is based on your ability. All skill levels are encouraged to try it out!
4-week session. (Maximum 10 people)
This class will help us understand our pelvic floor. We will work with self-massage, hip and spinal movement through yoga poses and core work. We will use breath work to release the pelvic floor. Retrain muscles in the pelvic floor through full range of movement. Anatomy of the pelvic floor will be understood as well as using 360-degree breath work. 9-week session.
The sound of crystal singing bowls is said to have a healing effect on the mind, body, and spirit. It can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, and promote feelings of well-being and harmony. The sound vibrations can help to balance the chakras, or energy centers, in the body.
To help you through the holiday season, enjoy this meditation workshop with Neeta Mohanty. You will begin to notice your body and mind more easily let go of daily stressors and challenges. You feel calmer, can focus more clearly, you are more creative, feel more balanced and comfortable in your skin. Meditation helps to activate our rest-and-digest system and begin the process of ushering our body back to a more natural and calm state.

Designed to empower participants with in-depth knowledge of muscle anatomy and its application in strength training. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of muscle groups, their functions, and how to optimize strength exercises for maximum results. Guided by personal trainer Amber Paniagua, participants will embark on a transformative journey to sculpt their bodies and unlock their full physical potential. 4-week program.
This dynamic program focuses on the synergy between muscle anatomy and effective stretching techniques. Participants will delve into muscle structure and function, learning how targeted stretching can enhance flexibility, prevent injuries, and promote overall well-being. Guided by personal trainer Amber Paniagua, participants will embark on a rejuvenating journey to increase mobility, release tension, and achieve a harmonious balance between strength and flexibility. 4-week program.
Teen Fitness Classes
Learn the fundamentals of fitness, exercise safety, fitness center rules and etiquette. This free orientation is required for members 11 to 15 years old, who with a parent, would like to use the fitness center. Pre-registration is required. Call (630) 978-6280 to schedule an appointment.
This class is designed as a beginner course into weight and strength training for teens ages 13 to 17. Under the guidance of a certified personal trainer, teens will learn the proper techniques to strength training to ensure both safety and effectiveness. The trainer will guide participants through a variation of light to moderate weight, dumbbell, machine, plyometric and body weight exercises. 4-week sessions.
This program provides athletes or enthusiasts one-on-one sports training with a certified Healthplex personal trainer. Sessions are available for sport-specific performance, overall fitness, resistance training, cardiovascular endurance and speed and agility. To schedule, call (630) 499-2401.
