FAQ About Applying to Rush

Application questions

Where do I go to find a job and apply?

Please go to our Apply for a Position page and search for an opportunity at one of our health system locations or faculty and provider positions.

How long does it take to complete the application?

Before you can apply for any positions, you must create a complete profile in our system. The average time to set up your profile and complete an application is about 15 minutes, but we encourage you to take your time so you’re happy with the results. Once your profile is created, it takes only a few minutes to apply for additional jobs.

What is a complete profile?

A complete profile will include:

  • Resumé attached
  • Your employment history
  • Your education history
  • Any licenses or certifications received, if applicable
  • Your contact information, including home address, email and phone number

Additional tips:

  • Take advantage of any “essay” questions to highlight your relevant experience and to make connections between your interests, education and work experience to the duties and responsibilities of the job. Don’t just cut and paste from your resumé.
  • Give answers that are unique to you. If an answer can be given by anyone applying for that position, it probably has been.
  • Write in complete sentences and spell-check your answers.
  • For questions about salary expectations, list your hourly or annual expectations. Rush offers competitive salaries and benefits. When determining an offer, we also consider internal equity, department budget, salary range and the candidates' background. Rush will not ask you to provide any information relating to your salary or pay history.
How do I check the status of my application?

Login to your Rush Careers Talent Profile. There you can see the status for each job you’ve applied for.

I’m having trouble completing my application. Can anyone help?

If you are having any technical issues or have any questions, please contact the Recruitment Team via email at Rush_Recruitment@rush.edu.

How will I know if you’ve received my application?

After your application is submitted, an auto-generated confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered. Be sure to check spam folders if you don’t receive it right away.

Will anyone actually read my application?

Yes! Rush does not use artificial intelligence (AI) to screen our applications. If you meet the minimum qualifications for a position, a recruiter will review your application.

Will I be contacted by a recruiter to let me know the status of my application?

For many open positions, we receive a large number of applicants. Unfortunately, this means it’s hard to give every candidate the individualized attention that we’d like. You can check the status of your application at any time on your Rush Careers Talent Profile. If we think you’re a good fit for a position you apply for, you will hear directly from one of our recruiters on the next steps of the process.

What should I do if I’m interested in working for Rush but haven’t found the right opportunity?

If you haven’t found the right opening or aren’t ready to submit an application just yet, join our Talent Community so we can keep you in mind for future opportunities that fit your experience and interests. We’ll also keep you updated quarterly on our latest news, team members spotlights, newly opened jobs and more.

Also, please note that Rush adds new positions regularly, so filter our job listings to look at the most recently posted positions once or twice per week.
