- Specialty pediatric doctors have additional medical training in specific areas of expertise, such as pediatric cardiology, pediatric otolaryngology (or ENT – ear, nose and throat), pediatric craniofacial/plastic surgery, pediatric cancer, pediatric surgery and pediatric neurosurgery.
- Pediatric anesthesiologists have specialized medical training in caring for children; they sedate children during surgery and manage any pain that may arise.
- Child life specialists help children learn how to effectively cope with their health challenges by educating them about procedures, guiding them through self-expression activities and engaging them in meaningful age-appropriate activities.
- Nurses at Rush are on the front line of Rush’s efforts to provide quality care, receiving Magnet status four consecutive times for making outstanding nursing care the standard at Rush University Children’s Hospital.
- Social workers specialize in helping families cope with the social and psychological challenges often associated with having a child who has complicated medical conditions.
