Sleep affects your child’s entire well-being — from their behavior to their development to their ability to fight illnesses. The pediatric sleep medicine program at Rush University Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive care for a wide range of sleep problems in children, such as snoring, daytime sleepiness, or difficulty sleeping at night.
Pediatric sleep specialists at Rush understand that your entire family suffers if your child is struggling with sleep. They will work closely with you to create a personalized care plan that meets your child’s needs and works with your family’s lifestyle.
Pediatric sleep study
Rush offers comprehensive sleep studies on children of all ages — from babies to young adults. Prior to the study, your child’s care team will prepare you for what to expect during the sleep study.
Rush University Children’s Hospital offers the following sleep studies for children:
- Overnight sleep study (nocturnal polysomnography): Your child will spend the night at the hospital as the pediatric sleep medicine team monitors your child’s sleep.
- Overnight sleep study with treatment (polysomnography with positive airway pressure therapy titration): Your child will do an overnight sleep study while receiving positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy during the study.
- Daytime nap study (multiple sleep latency test): Your child will stay at the hospital the day after an overnight sleep study. They will have the opportunity to nap during the day while the sleep study team monitors your child’s sleep and activity.
