Rush Walk for Wellness

Your park. Your neighborhood. Your community.

The Rush Walk for Wellness is a seven-week summer program designed to inspire people of all ages and abilities to stay active and informed through weekly walks and engaging events both in person and online. Join us as we connect with neighbors, health and wellness experts and community organizations.

Program highlights

  • Opening Walk Kick Off – Saturday, July 12
    Kick off the program with a fun event for the whole family. Grab your Walk for Wellness T-shirts, meet up with your neighborhood team and get connected to health and wellness resources. Our team will get you set up with everything you need to start your seven-week wellness journey. On-site registration is available.
  • Community Walks – Saturdays, July 19 through Aug. 16
    Community walks are designed for us to get off screens and come together for a healthy and fun activity right in your neighborhood. Starting Saturday, July 19, walks will be led and organized by local team leaders. Interested in becoming a team leader? Email us at Walk4Wellness@rush.edu.

  • Virtual Walk and Learns – Wednesdays, July 16 through Aug. 20
    Tune in weekly to learn about the health and wellness topics that impact your life the most. Each week, Rush experts will share important evidence-based information and practical information tips to keep you and your loved ones healthy. We encourage listeners to walk or move while you listen and learn.
  • Closing Walk Celebration – Saturday, Aug. 23
    Celebrate your accomplishments with the last walk of the program. Join us for more health and wellness activities and get connected to resources that will help you thrive all year long. Raffles and prizes for in-person participants will be held after the walk.

Rush Copley Medical Center partners with Fox Valley Park District and VNA Health Care's Walk with a Doc program for the Rush Walk for Wellness.

Frequently asked questions

Anyone of any age or ability is encouraged to participate in the Rush Walk for Wellness. For more information or accommodations please email us at Walk4Wellness@rush.edu.

There is no cost to participate in the Rush Walk for Wellness or attend any of the events. T-shirts will be provided for the first 150 people to register for the program.

Registration is available online from June 9 through July 7. You only need to register once. Registration will be available on site at the Opening Walk on Saturday, July 12.

Community Walks will be led by team ambassadors who will lead the group on a route in their neighborhood. We will be updating registered walkers throughout the program through email with times and locations of the community walks.

Team leaders are our walk ambassadors. This is a volunteer position, and team leaders will schedule and lead their neighborhood walkers on Saturdays, July 16 through Aug. 16. Interested in becoming a team leader? Email us at Walk4Wellness@rush.edu.
