The Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center is a multidisciplinary group of physicians who provide patients with access to the full range of the latest and most innovative treatment options, including groundbreaking immunotherapies, advanced chemotherapy approaches, the latest radiation therapies and a full range of surgical options for breast cancer.
As the first of its kind in the Midwest, the Center evaluates patients who have a lump, an abnormal mammogram, a diagnosis or a family history of breast cancer.
Patients who come to the Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center will see a team of experts on the first visit, which will include a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist, a surgical oncologist and a psychologist. Additionally, our radiologists and breast pathologists provide expert evaluation and second opinion services for our breast patients. These dedicated professionals work collaboratively with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan at the initial visit.
As a comprehensive center, we are able to provide patients access to a team of breast cancer specialists in a single visit who offer the following services:
-
Advanced treatment options
-
Second-opinion services
-
Complementary and integrative cancer medicine
-
Supportive and educational services
For more information, please see the Breast Cancer Center Services webpage.
The center’s clinical team consists of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and pathologists. The Center also has, as part its comprehensive nature, psychologists to provide emotional support and guidance. Additionally, a dedicated breast cancer nurse is available to answer questions and coordinate appointments, procedures and tests. For more information, see the Breast Center Clinical Team page.
New Treatments and Clinical Trials
Because Rush is an academic medical center and our physicians are also researchers, we are able to quickly bring the latest therapies directly to our patients. In fact, Rush was among the first centers in the country to evaluate the revolutionary breast cancer-fighting drugs trastuzumab (Herceptin) and bevacizumab (Avastin) for breast cancer. For more information about our latest offerings, please see our Clinical Trials for Breast Cancer page.
