The Rush Approach to Emergency Services
Each of Rush's emergency departments — in Chicago, Oak Park, Aurora and Yorkville — provide fast, expert care for a full range of medical problems in adults, children and babies. Staffed by highly experienced emergency medicine specialists, our EDs are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Rush takes extra precautions to prevent the spread of infections in our EDs, including the use of isolation rooms to care for patients who may have infectious diseases.
Because Rush is a major academic health system, our emergency medical staff can easily consult with on-call medical specialists who also work at Rush, including surgeons, neurologists and cardiologists.
If your condition is not an emergency, you can access one of Rush's walk-in urgent/convenient care centers instead.

- Preventing infections: Rush University Medical Center is one of 35 medical centers in the nation designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as having the highest standards in infection control. In addition to maintaining stringent cleaning and social distancing standards in the ED, we ensure all staff and patients have masks or other personal protective equipment and immediately isolate patients who arrive in the ED with symptoms of an infectious disease like COVID-19.
