The Rush Approach to Allergy Care

Whether you have asthma or eczema, seasonal allergies or food sensitivities, Rush allergy care providers can help.

They specialize in diagnosing and treating allergies and autoimmune disorders. Because these conditions are complex, the allergy and immunology team often works with other experts to make sure patients benefit from the knowledge of multiple specialists.

As one of the leading academic health systems in the country, Rush providers are also involved in clinical trials of possible treatments for a number of allergies. That means you may have access to new therapies and treatments that might not be widely available.

Allergy Care Providers at Rush

Rush Excellence in Allergy Care

  • When it's more than just allergies: If you are suffering from a combination of symptoms, including coughing, breathing problems, persistent sinus pain and pressure, and sleep disturbances, you may benefit from the one-stop approach at the Rush Sinus, Allergy and Asthma Center. The center, the first of its kind in the Chicago area, brings together specialists from allergy/immunology, laryngology, pulmonology, rhinology, sleep medicine and sleep surgery to care for people who have co-existing sinusitis, allergies, asthma and/or sleep apnea.
  • Clinical trials: Rush allergy care physicians regularly conduct clinical trials of possible treatments. That means they can offer some patients options that might not be widely available.
  • Customized treatment: We offer the latest treatment options, including personalized immunotherapy (or allergy shots) in which tiny, carefully calibrated doses of allergens are introduced gradually to help your immune system build a tolerance. If you are allergic to pollen, mold or other hard-to-avoid substances, allergy shots can provide relief. The treatment lessens problems caused by many common allergens, including pollen, grass, mold, animal dander or dust mites.
  • Telehealth appointments: Talk to a specialist today or tomorrow by scheduling an allergy telehealth appointment. Join your one-on-one video visit using your smartphone, computer or tablet. Available for both new and existing Rush patients.

Researchers at Rush are investigating new allergy treatments.
